Use the SSL or TLS mode of the servers... I put a quick memo in the meantime, to make a more complete article. The very first remark is that; being under Debian, I first did apt-get install pure-ftpd then I realized that I did not have access to the symbolic links by logging in with a chrooted user. So recompilation in good eduform :)
